ABOUT
Camp Somerset is an Outdoor Education and Recreation Facility owned and operated by the Seventh-day Adventist Church in South Queensland as a part of a worldwide network of convention centres and camps.
​
While being primarily set up for our Summer Camp programs, throughout the year we have specialised in client driven, outcome focused outdoor programming and education, providing tailored programs matched to the educational needs of students, schools and colleges.
​
Weekends are open to churches, families and clubs from all denominations who are looking for a place of escape and enjoyment in a natural and healthy environment for fellowship and worship.
CAMP SOMERSET HISTORY
Celebrating 40 years in 2025
In 1946 Maranatha Camp was opened, but with urbanisation and a need for updated facilities the decision was made to sell and purchase the Camp Somerset property in 1985 and has been developing ever since. Most recently, in 2020 additional property was acquired to ensure and protect the culture of the camp, safe from encroachment.
SQ YOUTH
Summer Camps and Pathfinders
The Youth are the heartbeat of any church. The youth team run summer camps at Camp Somerset every Christmas holiday period with four age brackets specifically focusing on where the youth are at, they are met their and led to Christ.. Our mission in South Queensland is to be actively engaged in serving our communities in tangible ways. We are passionate about our communities and seek their good as we mingle with our neighbours, sympathising with them and ministering to the diversity of needs as they present. The Adventist Church and Christian Camping have been operating hand in hand since the church began. Today we acknowledge our God and Saviour Jesus Christ. We acknowledge you Lord because you are the creator, provider and supreme owner of all things.
